CUSTOM MATERIAL PROCESS
New form of sustainable hard trim- Substrated, authentic, natural look
OLFACTORY- Cork material also chosen for its scented properties, connecting back to user story and his home in relation to vineyards and interest in experiencing wine in the wine county.
1- Blend cork panels into small pellets in order to re-mold to desired shape
2- Combining cork with resin to emulate proper cork molding process (resin is NOT a sustainable bonding agent, used only to mockup proper shape of material sample)
3- Sanded originally glossy resin+cork material down to get desired rough hand
4- Finished cork sample

Alternative expression to familiar luxury materials
Pyrite “flakes” recall gold nuggets in the streams of Northern California, the Golden State
1- Adding pyrite flakes to resin mold to achieve desired shape
2- Sanded down the glossy finish to acheived natural, desired satin finish
3- Finished "gold" (pyrite) trim sample

1- Laser cutting acrylic layers with parametric pattern layout
2- Cutting sections of nylon cord (mock-upcycled in reality) inset into pattern slots
3- Sandwiched base acrylic layer in bottom and top of cord layer to create a layered visual aesthetic
